SUAS Drone Tracker System

Product Overview

The SUAS Drone Tracker System tracks multiple drones from several ground terminals over a robust interference-tolerant wireless telemetry link that supports in-band (ISM) as well as out-of-band (non-ISM) frequency channels. The system uses multiple GNSS technologies (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo) to broadcast the position of the drone to multiple ground terminals using a low-power, long-range, spread spectrum interference tolerant waveform. The system includes SUAS Trackers (transmitters), Ground Terminals (receivers), SUAS Tracker Application and real-time SUAS tracking via an ATAK Plug-in.

System Features

  • Simultaneously tracks multiple drons (>=10)
  • Support for in-band (ISM) and out-of-band
    (200 – 2400 MHz) frequency channels
  • Long-Range (>=20km) Low Power (<=1W)
    Communications
  • Modular Software Defined Radio (SDR) design
  • Very low SWAP-C (less than 170 grams)
  • Long battery lifeĀ

Ground Terminal

The Ground Terminal provides real-time drone position information to the SUAS Tracker Application or SUAS Tracker ATAK plug-in enabling display on a real-time map.

High-Speed Tracker

The SUAS High-Speed Tracker provides an extended frequency range outside of typical ISM frequency bands and supports position update rates of up to 20 Hz enabling tracking of high-speed drones.

ISM Micro Tracker

The SUAS ISM Micro Tracker has been specifically designed to support Group 1 UAS platforms and includes various mounting features.

Out-of-Band Tracker

The SUAS Out-of-Band Tracker provides an extended frequency range outside of typical ISM frequency bands and supports drone position update rates of up to 10 Hz.

System Use Cases

Tracking ModeTrack multiple drones from one or more ground terminals and display drone location on a real-time map.

Supports higher drone position update rates over user defined tracking duration (typically 4-6 hrs).

- Standard Tracker: 1 to 10 Hz
- High-Speed Tracker: 20 Hz
Search ModeSearch for drones that have wandered off course and display drone and ground terminal location on a real-time map.

Provides lower drone position update rate of once per minute over longer durations (~48 hrs).

Automatically enters search mode after tracking mode duration has expired.

System Components

SUAS TrackerLow SWAP SDR transmits drone position and velocity information over LPI/LPD spread spectrum wireless telemetry link.

- Out-of-Band Tracker (Extended Freq Range, up to 10 Hz position update rate)
- High-Speed Tracker (Extended Freq Range, up to 20 Hz position update rate)
- ISM Micro Tracker (ISM bands, smaller SWAP, up to 10 Hz position update rate)
Ground TerminalLow SWAP SDR simultaneously receives and decodes multiple SUAS tracker wireless telemetry streams.

Provides real-time SUAS track information to SUAS Tracker Application or ATAK Plug-In.
SUAS Tracker ApplicationPlatform agnostic software application provides SUAS tracker device management and configuration, spectrum management, real-time data collection via ground terminals, position track history analysis and export to variety of commercial mapping applications.
ATAK Plug-InReal-time mapping application that displays SUAS track information as provided by ground terminal.
